How to Claim Your Natural Gas & Propane Federal Tax Credit Learn how to file for your retroactive credit Thursday, November 10th 12:00p – 12:45p

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 has extended the $0.50/Gallon Natural Gas/Propane Federal Tax Credit through December 31, 2024.

Heather Ball of the Texas Natural Gas Foundation will walk through how to claim the credit.

Fleets like Alvin ISD, Dickinson ISD and Fashion Glass are claiming it. If you own natural gas or propane vehicles or forklifts and fuel at your refueling site, you are eligible to claim the credit. This includes public fleets, non-profits and private companies. You do not need to pay taxes to claim.

Dickinson ISD’s director of transportation Brian Cmaidalka noted, “I was unaware that the tax credit was reinstated.” Learn how he filed for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.

Learn how Texas-based Fashion Glass, which operates both propane vehicles and forklifts, claimed $79,000 for 2018-2020.

DOE Funds $2.8 Billion for U.S. EV Battery Manufacturing

The Biden-Harris Administration, through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), recently announced the first set of projects funded by the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to expand domestic manufacturing of batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) and the electrical grid and for materials and components currently imported from other countries. The 20 companies will receive a combined $2.8 billion to build and expand commercial-scale facilities in 12 states to extract and process lithium, graphite and other battery materials, manufacture components, and demonstrate new approaches, including manufacturing components from recycled materials.

The initiative will coordinate domestic and international efforts to accelerate permitting for critical minerals projects, ensuring that the United States develops the resources the country needs in an efficient and timely manner, while strengthening Tribal consultation, community engagement and environmental standards.

Grants and Fundings

This is the first round of Rebate Funding  from the EPA Clean School Bus Program, which President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law created with a historic $5 billion investment for low- and zero-emission school buses over the next five years. EPA received around 2,000 applications requesting nearly $4 billion for over 12,000 buses.  There is a Rebate Wait List in the event awardees drop out. The 2022 rebate program will fund approximately 2,500 school bus replacements.
