The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 has extended the $0.50/Gallon Natural Gas/Propane Federal Motor Fuel Excise Tax Credit through December 31, 2024.
Who can claim this credit? Natural gas or propane retailer refuels a privately owned or government vehicle at his/her retail outlet. Customer refuels their own vehicles from a bulk tank they own, or if your organization installs the propane tanks onto forklift vehicles.
Why should you look into the credit? It will help reduce your overall operating cost.
How far back can you claim this credit? If you are a governmental entity, you can go back up to 3 years to claim credit.
What is the First-Step? Fill out the IRS 637 form to receive your 8-digit AL number to use when claiming your credit.
